ITALIAN WAR MINE READY TO EXPLODE
GROWING: TENSION WITH AUSTRIA WARNING AGAINST THE "MANOEUVRES OF THEf BELLIGERENTS'London, April 13. The tension between Austria and Italy is growing. The Prefect of Trieste, m Austria, lias prepared a i) reclamation "extorting the inhabitants of the Julian-Venetian district to remain calm, as the enemy was on the point of occupying it and the' Austrian Administration of abandoning it. The proclamation adds: "The occupation will be brief." The "Gazzetta del Popolo" (Turin) says the presont indication is that thero arc ninety-nine chances in a hundred that Italy will intervene. The newspaper "Giornalie d'lta'lie" warns Italians against the manoeuvres of the belligerent nations, who are aiming to emphasise the possibility of a separate peace between' Austria and Russia with a view to hastening the intervention of neutrals through fear of being late. The paper adds:—"The forces of the belligerents are not yet so unequal that either is likely to lose !hope of tiiumph or the ending of the war with decorum. Austrian rebellion against Berlin will be incredible, because it would cause Austria to lose ■German provinces which are already considered by Germany to be natural appemdances to Bavaria." ' ART TREASUBES REMOVED FROM VENICE. \ Paris, April 13. An advice received by the newspaper "La Temps" states that the authorities at Venice are removing the art treasures to Florence as a precaution against an Austrian bombaiidment.
