The report to. be presented at the seventh annual meeting o fthe Potone Railway Workshops Sick Benefit Society states that the amount of sickness during the year has been heavy, the average amount paid out being £4 per week. The society started the year witli a membership of 247, and during the year 50 new members joined, six wero paid off through. transfers, oigbt "ran out," and one died, leaving a membership of 282. The committee received valuable assistance from members in its_ endeavour to safeguard tho society's interests arid extend its operations. Tlio bal-ance-sheet shows that tho receipts for the year were £622 2s. 9d., the expenditure £378 Bs. Id., leaving a credit of £248 14s. Bd., to be divided as follows: —10s. par member to be carried to the reserve fund, the balance to b«s divided it ti» nt* of 9&. 3d, uer full member.
