Petrograd, April 11. Official. —"West of the Niemen, at' daybreak on April 9; we attacked the German positions and captured two lines of trenches on the Calvaria-Lub-winow front, taking prisoners sis hundreds of the enemy, and- captains eight machine guns. "The seizure of Height 909, near Woliamichowa, resulted'in the repeHinß of the enemy along our entire offensive, on thej>rincipal chain of the Carpathians. The enemy, considerably re* mforced, made obstinate counterattacks on Thursday, but we success* fully repelled them, 1000 pri. soners. Our offensive continues, despite the necessity, of cutting our way. through the snow, sometimes at $' depth of fix feet. We are within fivd versts (3 miles) of the Uszor Valley at several points."
