NOTES FROM CHRISTOHURCH,
(By Telesrapl.—fineolol OorreajjondenU Christchurch, April 9. . Warstep, who leaves for Trentham tomorrow night, was galloped a mile this morning. Over the first five furlongs she ran the first quarter in 15sec., three in 37 sec., half in 4feec., five in 63sec., and the whole distance in lmin. 43 l-ssec. Considering that she was carrying about Bst. 71b., and was on the bit all the way, it was a good gallop. « ' • Sartorze was on the track again this morning, being restricted to two rounds at halt pace. \ He looks well, but is still sore. Longley will leave for the north with Sartorza and Banian to-morrow evening, and all going well the first-named will be a starter in the Thompson Handicap at Trentham. Honesty, who is engaged in the Timaru Cup. 13 very light and wasted, looking. She frets a great deal, and must be a oonstant source of worry to her trainer. Kingsway is on the backward side. He burst,,orio of his feet a few days ago, but may be raced at Timaru. Jl. Hobbs has decided not to take any of his team to Wellington, but will confine has attentions to Timatu.
