TENSION IN CHINA
PRESENCE OF JAPANESE TROOPS.
London, April 7. The correspondent of "The Times" at Peking says: "Tho. tension in China is considerable. The Government has strictly enjoined tho civil, military, and naval authorities to refrain from action calculated to provoke trouble and givo umbrage to Japan. "The presence of a large number of Japanese troops in four provinces if a constant temptation to mischiefmakers. The enemies of the Government are numerous. No relief may ba expected till the troops are withdrawn." —"Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.
THE BRITISH JUDICIARY SIR H. B.' BUCKLEY RETIRES. London, April 7. The. Right Hon. Sir Henry Burton Buckley, Lord Justice of Appeal, has retired. He has received a barony.
Sir Thomas Rolls Warrington, a Judge of the High Court, succeeds him. [Sir Henry Burton Buckley, who was born in 1845, was called to tho Bar in 1869, became Q.C. in 1886, Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1891, member of the Bar .Committee and Bar Council from 1883 to 1898, Judge of the High Court of Justice in 1900. He was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in 1906. Sir Thomas Warrington was born in May, 1851, was called to the Bar in 1875, was made a K.C. in 1895, and a Judge in 1904.]
