Tremendous fighting has been proceeding on both 6ides of the range, and the Russians, who now hold important positions, have taken many prisoners, occupied Hungarian villages near the great plain below, and are now pouring through the passes into the enemy's country. A scmi-ofDcial communique from Vienna warns the population not to under-estimate the recent succcsses of the enemy. Nothing short of a miracle, states one message, can avert the humiliation of Austria. There is no news from Central Poland, or the Bast Prussian front. In the Western th catro tho Allies have been particularly active in the 'W'oevre district, and in 0110 portion of the front made "an important bound forward." A German i'orco managed to cross tho Yser, but was effectively engaged by the Belgians. The Germans have admitted the loss of their big pirate submarine U29, and are extremely angry over the friendly Note which the United States addressed to Britain.
