Tho King has approved of the appointment- of M. Maniakay as Greek Consul -at Melbourne, and Mr. Clark as Portuguese Consul at Sydney. —Press Association.
Tho Commonwealth Defence Department announces that Edward Healy, of tho Now South AYales Expeditionary Force, died of pneumonia in Eyypt. His relatives live in New Zealand.— Press Association.
A very popular officer of the Headquarters staff of the New Zealand Defenco Department is at present absent from his post as the result of an accident. Some little time ago Captain Hudson had one of his arms broken. The bone was set at the time, but Captain Hudson has now found it necessary to go to a private hospital to have tho limb further attended to.
Mr, Malcolm Rossj who is to be the war correspondent accredited by the fiovernment and tho New Zealand Press to accompany the Dominion Exneditionar.y Force on active service, left by the Mokoia yesterday to join the •Uorea at Sydney, He will leave tho P. and O. steamer at the port from which he can most readily reach tho New Zealand headquarters, wherever that may be. Mrs. Ross accompanies him on the voyage, but she is gouig to London.
A private cablegram received in Wellington announces the death, on April 6, of Mr. John Marshall, head of the ■well-known cutlery firm of Messrs, Christopher Johnston and Co.

Constable Barton, of Manners Streot Police Station, has been transferred to Dannevirke, and Constable Prussing, of the same station, has been transferred to Napier.
The Upper Hutt supporters of Mr. A. M. Samuel,who stood in the Reform interests at'the last election tendered him a social in the local Town Hall.
