APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS.
■ [To the Editor.] Sir,— Eg appointmonfc of officers for tlio forces, as detailed in your issue of to-day, the procedure, as explained by the Hon. J. Allen, appears to be a particularly fair one, but might I suggest to the military authorities that a great favour would be conferred upon a number of men who, like myself, have applied for commissions in the Reinforcements if some notification could, without divulging future plans, bo sent to thein as to whether or not their services are likely to bo accepted. This |would give them an opportunity of making their business arrangements accordingly. Personally I know of several who at the instigation of the authorities have undergone successful mcdical examination, and are daily awaiting a call to report themselves at Trontham for duty, and who would greatly esteem a definite notification that,, in the event of the war lasting, say, a stated period, they would bo called up for service. Trusting this will meet with the approval of the Minister of Defence, —I am, ctv,, LIEUTENANT 13. : April I, 1913.
