The Bishop of Hereford, in a letter acknowledging the Bishop of Zanzibar's excommunication, regrets the latter's ■lack of Christian sympathy, and his misguided conception of "his duty. He is surprised that his natural modesty did not suggest to him that the excoramunicatory act should be left to the proper authority.
