MASTERTON NOTES

The managers of tie Masterton Technical School intend applying to the Trust Lands Trust for an increase in the annual grant from £100 to £300. The Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society has made a start with the rehearsal of the opera '"The Toreador." A Territorial camp is to be opened at the Opaki racecourse on Friday, and will last for a fortnight. It is expected that between 500 and 600 men will be under canvas. Several deer-stalking parties have been out during the last few days, and a number of good heads have been secured. The Martinborough district is still the most popular rendezvous for the stalker. The death is announced from Tinui of an old settler in the person of Mr. Frank Brading.
