THE UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT.
STRUGGLE FOR THE CHALLENGE SHIELD WIN FOR CANTERBURY (By holograph.—Press Association.) Auckland, April 5. The New Zealand University Athletio Tournament was held in the .Domain. As was anticipated there was .a keen struggle for the Challenge Shield. The result was in doubt until the last championship race—the - 440 yds. Hurdles— when Otago, present 'holders of the Challenge Shield, had a half-point lead from Canterbury. The race resolved itself into a struggle between the Canterbury and Otago representatives, the former securing the verdict by a foot, and with the race the shield, for Canterbury. , Points for the Challenge Shield were as follow: —Canterbury College, 12J points; Otago University, 12 points; Auckland University College, points; Victoria College, 6 points. The results were as follow: —
