Tho Prime Minister (the. Right Hon. W. F. Massey) will visit' Cheviot. on Thursday. It is probable that while in Canterbury he will meet representatives of the frozen meat interests in Christchurch.

The Hon. W. Fraser will leave for Napier and Wairoa to-morrow.

The death occurred during the holidays of Mr. James L Wilson, dentist, of Lyttelton, and for some years resident in Wellington. The late Mr. Wilson, who was married to a sister of Mr. L. Partridge, of this city, leaves a family of four children.

It was decided at yesterday's sitting of the Poultry-keepers' Oohfefeiiee t6 send a telegram of congratulation to Sir. G. Willis (a mfcmber of the executive board of the association), who had recently been married in Christchurch. Eulogistic reference was made to Mr. Willis's worli for and_ in the interest of the Poultry Association. It was alto decided to make a presentation to Mr. Willis.

The funeral of the late Mr. John Alfred Brain took place on Friday after, noon at Mangere, Auckland, and wag largely attended, many of the older residents of Onehunga and Mangere being amongst those who paid their last mark of respect to the deceased gentleman. The late Mr. Brain was a native of Bristol, England, and arrived in New Zealand upwards of sixty years ago. He was for many years associated with the firm of Buckland and Sons, auctioneers, and resided in Onehunga. Mr. Brain died on Wednesday morning at the age of 75 years. He leaves a widow and ten children—five soub and five daughters.

At yesterday's sitting of tha Poultrykeepers' Conference the secretary of the association (Mr. J. B. Merrett), on behalf of the delegates, congratulated one of the association's most prominent members, Sir. S. Brittain Bull, on his recent appointment to the position of Town Clerk at Takapuna. Tho speaker remarked on the prominent part Mr. Bull had taken in. the industry and in the work of the association. Jlr. A. G. Mumby, president of the association, spoke in similar strain. In thanking the speakers for their' words of congratulation, Mr. Bull said that he had not severed his interest in the poultry industry, and would still follow the work of the association.'. On the call of the president three hearty cheers were given for Mr. Bull.

A resolution of sympathy to Mr. D. Inman Tod hi his recent bereavement by the. loss of his wife was passed at yesterday's sitting of the Poultry-keep-ers' Conference. 1

Mr._ W. F. Colleyj the English artist and picture restorer, who has been hard at work ill Nelson. for the past few months, has returned to Wellington.

Messrs, Clem Hill and W. J. W'hitty, the famous Australian cricketers, figured in the South Australian Lawn Tennis Association's tournament at Adelaide last mouth. Mr. Hill had a hand in lowering Mr. AYhitty's colours in. tha doubles.
