Mr. Xewton King reports:—At Douglas, on March 29, both ehecp and cattle came forward in excess of advertised numbers. Competition was keen tor all sheep offered, every peu being sold at tlie hammer at a sharp advance Cattle wero selling at a slightly improved rate, a good portion o£ the yaraing being cleared. Prices obtained were as followWcaucr steers (mostly small), £1 2s. 6d. to £1 175.; weancr heifers, 15a to £1 25.; 20-month empty heifers, £2 6b. to £2 125.; 20-months in-calf lieil'ers, £2 15s. to £3; ZO-months steers, £3 14s. to £3 175.; rough and email, £2 18s. 6d.; dairy cows, £7; bulls, £4 15s. to £7 10s.; store cows, £2 12s. 6d. to £4. according to size and condition; l'o«vard cows, from £5 ss. for fair-framed cows, 10 £7 10s. for heavy cows, nearly fat. Lambs, lis 7d„ lis. 3d., lis. 2d., lCs. 8d„ 10s. 2d., 9s. 5d., 9s. 2d., Bs. 7d., 6s. 8d„ 6s. Id.; 2tooth ewes (a good line), 18». 7d.; 2-tooth wethers, strong demand), 17s. oil. to 19s. Bd. to Is. Id. At Stratford, on March 30, the demand for sheep was unsatisfied, all lilies offered being cleared at prices very satisfactory to tbe vendors Cattle were not so ready for-sale, but several classes met with good competition. A good number of weaner heifers were yarded aaid • eold, although prices were very low, vendors evidently having deoided to accept these prices rather than hold. Weaner eteers and cows with condition sold readily. Prices obtained were:—Best weaner steers, £1 lftj.' to £2 25.; fair oattle, £1 126. to £1 165.; small steers. £1 2s. 6d. to £1 6s. 6d.; bulls, £2 Its. to £8; dairy cows, £8 3s»: 20-mpnth to 2J-year steers, £4 9o'. 6d. to £4 18s.; weaner heifers, 15s. to £1 2s 6d.; Aged store cows, from £1 13s. for poor cows, to £5 Bs. 6d. for cows with good condition; small store cow, £2 to £3 2s. 6d.; fre6h conditioned cows, £3 18s. to £4 155.; forward cows, £5 ss. to £7 10s.; fat cows, £7 14s. to £8 2s. 6d.; 4-year Lincoln eweß (early shorn), 17e. lOd.; 4 and 5-year ewes, Ifc -3d. .and 16s. 9d.; 4-year Kouiney ewes, with percentage of 5-year, 16s 6d.; guaranteed 6ound-mouth ewes (early shorn, and showing a lot of Lincoln), 17s. 3d.; 4 and 6-tooth -ewes, with a few full-mouth sheep, 18s.; fat ewes, Ite. 9d., 17s. lid., 17s. 2d.; fat ewei and wethere, 19s. lid;, woolly mixed age ewes (a small pen), 15s. 3d.; mixed age .ewes (a rough line), 16s. 4a.; small 2-toolh wethers, 16s. 3d.; good lambs (off 4 weeks' rape), 12s. 2d ; woolly lambs, 13s. 7d.; cull lambs, 6s. 9d. to 7s. Id.; fullmouthed ewes, 10s. 3d. to 145.; fat-lambs, 15s.
