c>—:— "AMOUNT SHIPPED. The Prime-Minister (the liight Hon. W. P. MasseyJ has received inquiries from .Australia,as to what New Zealand is doing in regard to the shipment of frozen meat consigned to the Imperial Government. In reply, he has sent the following particulars to Mr. Mawson, the New Zealand agent in Melbourne :— "Ruahine, Matatua, Taintii, already dispatched, carrying 15,609 quarters beef, 35,026 carcasses mutton, 55,005 carcasses mixed mutton and lamb, and 70,032 carcasses lamb. Six steamers now loading and will sail this month,' carrying 521,200 freight carcasses, of which following already loaded: 37,992 quarters beef, 96,908 carcasses mutton, and 146,327 carcasses lamb. The meat now. in store is estimated at one and three-quarter million carcasses." "I anticipate that we will bo able to keep the supply for the Imperail Government going all through the winter," said Mr. Massey.
