FIRES

TEA-ROOMS AT LTALL BAY DESTROYED. A 6even-roomed wooden building known, as the "Bay View" Tea Rooms, situated at the junction of Onepu Road and the Parade, was totally destroyed by fire shortly before 7 o'clock last evening. The building, which was occupied by Mr._ Morse, was. owned by Mr. Cook, solicitor, of Feilding. No one was in the building at the time of tho outbreak, which is said to have emanated from the kitchen. The alarm was given as soon as the firo was discovered, but as the brigade had to travel a long way, the building was practically gutted before its arrival, and nothing much was saved. No insurances were available last night-. The brigade made short work of subduing the flames, but nothing but the wails and a portion of the roof wore left of the building.
