The Advisory Committee of Newspaper Editors choson by the Press 'Association to advise tho Government in the matter of selecting an Official War Correspondent from the 46 applications received narrowed the list down to four names. They wore in alphabetical order: Messrs. F. Doidge, chief of staff. "Star," Auckland; E. V. Hall, editorial staff, "Evening Post," Wellington; 'M. Ross, special correspondent Ohristcliurch "Press," "Otago Daily Times," and other papers, Wellington'; and S. Waters, sub-editorial staff Christchurch "Press."

Mr. Norwood is now the managing director of the Dominion# Motor Vehicles, Ltd., of Courtenay Place. He was a former president of the Victoria Bowling Club, and is the president of the Wellington Industrial Association and a member of the executive of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand. A letter from Lord Ranfurly has been received by the Auckland Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association, acknowledging . a message of sympathy cabled to him when news was received that Viscount Northland had been killed in action. "Lady Ranfurly and I wish to express our thanks to the Auckland Centre for thoir kindness ill cabling," 'Lord Ranfurly wrote. "We much appreciate the great sympathy we have received in oitr severe loss. War necessitates sacrifice. Our Empire would not be what it is if our sons nad not freely given their blood in its defence. Wo. were proud of our only son_ also of his end, but our interests 111 life are broken. Work alone can give us temporary relief, and we are of some use to the St. John and Red Cross Associations, not to mention other societies, for assisting those who are upholding our country's honour."
