A sale of gift stock conducted at the local yards to-day by tile' Oamaru Auctioneers' Association in aid of the Belgium Fund realised over £1400. A great number of the stock promised did not arrive in time, and will be sold for the same purpose after Easter. One sheep to-dav realised £32 55., and fat welhers as high as 445. Chrlstohurch, March 30, A big Belgian festival has beeu arranged for April 17, and for somo time there has been keen competition in connection with tho Queen of the Carnival competition. „\'ow a dispute has arisen which threatens the success of tlie affair. The executive decided to give 25 per centum of the proceeds to the Lancaster Park Board of Control. The various committees resolved that if this is adhered to they will cease to work, they being of opinion that all tlie moneys. should go to the Belgians. Later. The difficulty has been overcome by tlie Board of Control of Lancaster Park relieving tho executive festival of its agreement with the Board of Control. This means that none of the funds collected in connection witli tlie festival will be devoted to Lancaster Park. The executive of tho festival, in acknowledging the sportsmanlike action of tho Board of Control, expresses the hone that the public will enthusiastically support (he hoard's appeal when it is made. The raffle of Lady Godlev's pictures given to the Roseneath Belgium Funds was drawn by Mi-. 11. Spear, the organiser, at tho schoolroom, on Saturday. The winning numbers were: First prize 1207, second prize 403. A doll was nleo rallied, the winning number being 111. The amount collected was C 9 3s.
