HIGH COipaSSIONEE'S MARKET BEPORT The Department ol Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, March 27. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot.):— Mutton.—Tho market is steady, with a moderate demand.- North Island, 6d. per lb.; ordinary Quality, s£d.; ewes, s|d. Lamb.—Lamb continues in active demand, end. the market is firm; with 'hardening tendency. Other than Canterbury, 72d. per lb., and as .high as Bd. for best quality; second grade, 7id.
Beef.—The market is quiet, but steady. New Zealand hinds, 6Jd. per lb.; fores, 6d.; chilled hinds, 7-Jd.; tores, 6Jd.
Butter.—The market is very quiet, and prices are Irregular. Danish, slow, per cwt., 140s. to 1435.; New- Zealand, quiet and prices easier, 1365. to 1385., occasionally 1405.; Australian, 1325. to 1365.; Siberian, a fair demand, 130s. to 1345.; Argentine, slow, 1325. to 1365. ..
Cheese.—The market remains Arm on Government buying, but general demand is quiet. Canadian, firm, white and colourea, per cwt.. 945. to 965.; New Zealand, quiet, white and coloured, lie. to 945.; Australian, quiet, 89s. to 925.; States, a fair demand, 88s. to 945.
Hemp—Tho market, is firm, Mid prices continue to advance. Tho market is active lor future delivery. New Zealand good-fair grade, per ton, £34 10s.; fair £32 10s.; fair current Manila, £40. Forward shipment:—New Zealand, good-fair, £35; fair,. £33; fair current Manila, £10 10s. The output from Manila for tho week was 24.000 bales.
Wheat.—Tho market js inactive,'and holders arc more willing to soil.. Prices are nominal. Canadian and American, on passage, per quarter, 635.; April to May, Ms.; Argentine, on passage, 615.; April to May, 60s. ,
Oats.—The market is quieter. Argentine, 295. per quarter lor any position. " LONDON WOOL SALES. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable advice from its London office, dated March 26:—"Current prices coarse and fine crossbreds, 17d. to l'/Jd. per lb.; medium crossbreds, 17Jd. to 18d. per lb.; haifbreds, 17Jd. per lb.; inferior merino 6. per lb.; superior merinos, < 15Jd. per lb. ;V SYDNEY WOOL SALES.
