TURKS AND KURDS RUN AMUCK (Ike. March 29, 7.20 p.m.) London, March 29. A message from Tittis says that North-West Persia is in an .appalling condition. The Turks and Kurds, are massacring Assyrians and Christians. Dr. Packard, of the Presbyterian Board of I'oreign Missions, underwent great personal risk in unfurling the American Hag, but saved three thousand Assyrians. At Gerogtapa, all the inhabitants except two hundred were burned in a cliurch. Many had sought protection al the mission station at Urumiah, v.-horo seventy Turkish regulars the Orthodox Bishop and four of his clergy. Six refugees were dragged to the French mission station and executed, despite the tearful pleas of tho nuns. Gulphason was the last of 103 villages which were devastated by the Kurds, who marched the males, tied in groups of five, to their graveyards, where all wore barbarously murdered, while young women were enslaved. Twelve thousand Assyrians are taking refuse in the Caucasus. In all, twenty thousand are dead or missing.
