GREYTOWN NEWS.
A meeting of the Greytown Boy Scouts' committee was held on Thursday. Mr. H. E. Pike, assistant Scoutmaster, was promoted to-Scoutmaster, and Mr. H. Quinn and Mr. H. Hardinge assistant-Scoutmasters. The secretary was instructed to write to Dr. M'Cartliy and thank him for his offer to give lectures to the Boy Scouts, The Rev. A. W. H. Compton was elected a committeeman and chaplain. A concert in aid of the funds will be held in September. The offer of Mr. H. Rees to assist tho committee was received with thanks. Tli Greytown Presbyterian Sunday School was opened on Thursday, and Sir W. C. Buchanan gave the opening speech. Games wero indulged in during the afternoon, but the sports had to bo postponed owing to the weather. A concert was held during the ovening, and proved most successful. Mr. F. Feist, of Carterton gave tho first, instalment on tho hire of a piano. Tho sum of £20 was takc-n at the door, I and for articles sold, and will go towards the Sunday School funds.
