MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL
At last night's meeting of the Miramar Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) presided. Mr. R. L. Mestayer, consulting engineer, advised, in connection with the power station equipment, that the unsatisfactory working of the filter was not due to any fault or default of the contractors, as they had supplied a filter of the best description. The trouble would have to be looked for either in working conditions or in the lubricating. He was convinced, after discussing t'he matter with the engineer in charge of the power station (Mr. Innes); that the matter would right itself in time. Mr. It. L. Mestayer also advised tbat Messrs. J. J. Niven and Co. had carried out all the work under their contract for power station equipment and w?re now entitled to tlie full balance of retention money. Both letters were dealt with by the council in comittee. Mr. A. D. Crawford wrote to inquire whether the council could provide both drainage and water in the event of his building on his 10-acre block, in Para Street. It was resolved to Teply that, as far as the water was concerned, it was available and that drainage could be provided (according to the borough engineer's estimate) at a costof £60. Both the Seatoun Association Football Club and tlie Wellington Rugby Football Union applied for the use of Seatoun Park for the season. On the motion of Councillor Stone, it w&s decided to grant the use of the park to tlie Seatoun Club.
