POLICE CASES Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided at the sitting of the Magistrate s Court yesterday morning;. David Finister,_ for committing an indecent act. 111 Dixon Street, was fined 205., in default three days' imprisonment. , Barry Foley, a deserter from the s.b. Corinthic, was sentenced to imprisonment for one month. AVm. Quee, a young man, pleaded guilty to the theft of three pairs of boots, the property of Arthur Edward Mann. Evidence was given that accused was a man of respectable family, iu no way a- criitiinalj but bad dqbu giving way t-o drink. Fines were imposed totalling £6, and the value of the goods. £3 7s. 6d., or the unrecovered portion ordered to be repaid. A prohibition order wa.s also issued by consent. , Dorothy Aubrey was fined 10s. or 48 hours' imprisonment for drunkenness, and two first offenders were convicted and discharged. CIVIL LIST. Knopp the sum of £1 6s. Od. on or before May 8, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. J. \Y. M'Kay was ordered to pay Arthur Cecil Wolff the sum of £2 19s. b.y May 8 in default five days' imprisonment. MOTOR-CAR REPAIRS. The Dominion Motor Vehicles Co., Ltd., sued F. J. Barton, circus proprietor, for the sum of £47 4s. 9d., amount, of money paid to Messrs. Bun and Son, Petone. for the defendant at liis request, for repairs to a motor-car. Evidence was given that defendant purchased a new Detroiter car from the plaintiffs- The secretary of the eompnnv said lhat no Riiarante? was given with tho car. Mr. D. M. John Garry (labourer) claimed from Charles Press, Douglas Wallace Street, tho sum of £3 Bs., for tho hire of furniture and chattels for 34 weeks, at 2s. per week. Defendant denied the nature of tho contract, which plaintiff said was entered into. Judgment went for defendant, with solicitor's feo, 10s. (id.
