At a recent sitting of the Land Commissioner's Court in Brisbane, Mr. S. Kidman,' who had surrendered seven pastoral holdings, principally in the Gregory North and Gregory South districtejwhjch he held under. the Land. Act; of '-1900, applied to secure them under- the Land Act of 1910, and was successful, in his application. Under the conditions of the new tenure the rental'now to be paid is very considerably, increased. ' Moreover, extensive improvements in the direction of sinking bores have to be completed within three years. The area which Mr. Kidman surrendered and took up under fresh:-leases amounts to 8987 square miles, particulars of which are as follow:—Monkira, 1325 square miles, annual rental 12s. per square mile, lease 27} years; one artesian and two subartesian- Dores to cost not less than £2700-to'-be 6unk;-Sandringham, area 2397 square miles; annual rental 7s. 6d., lease. 28}' years, three artesian bores at a cost of'not less than £5500; Dubbo Downs, area 886 square miles, annual rental 7s. 6d., lease 29J years, four subartesian borc6 at a cost of not less than £1800; Kalidawarry, area 800 square miles, annual rent 75., lease 27J years, four sub-artesian bores to cost not less tban £1800; Anuandale, area 1267 square miles, annual rental 75., lease 29J years, four sub-artcsian bores to cost not less ■ than £1800; Glengyle, 1008 square miles, annual rental 10s., lease 27} years, three sub-artesian bores to cost not less than £1350; Diamautina Lakes, 1304 square mile's, annual Tental 126., lease 17$ years, three sub-artesian bores to cost not less than £3500. The amount of rent paid down at the Land Commissioner's Court in respect of these properties was between £4000 and £5000.
