RUGBY FOOTBALL.

ST. JAMES'S CLUB. The annual report of the St. James's Club states that four teams were entered and the form displayed, especially in the lower grades, was very pleasing. The fourth-class team only lost the championship in the final match of the season. Every effort is to be made this year to secure a coach for the various teams. Messrs. E. Brown and W. Crowes obtained senior representative honours, and A. Withey was chosen in the fifth-class representatives' team. Thanks are extended to the following donors of medals: —Messrs. Joe Moffitt, F. Wright, A. C. Kitto, and F. Alpej also Messrs. F. Kitto, C. Hills and H. Wright, who offer a medal each for the incoming season. Regret is expressed at the departure from Wellington of Mr. F. Wright who, apart from being on© of the founders of the club, has, year in and year out, done yeoman service on and off the field, on behalf of the club. Tho financial position at the end of the year shows a small credit balance. This is considered very satisfactory, especially as there was a deficit of £1 7s ; to wipe off for the year 1913. The following are thanked for financial assistance and continued interest in the welfare of the club:—Messrs. A. Campbell, It. Fletcher, M.P., F. Kitto, A. C. Kitto, J. M'Donald, and R. A. Wright, M.P., also the. managers of St. James's Church for the use of tho schoolroom. RUGBY UNION ATTACKED. At last night's meeting of the Miramar Borough Council consideration was given to an application by the Wellington Rugby Union for the use of Seatoun Park for the football season. Councillor H. A. Smith declared. that when the ■union gained the use of the ground on a previous occasion they practically did so by means of false pretences. They had promised to play good matches on the park and so attract people on the trams, and they had also promised to spend a sum of money on the ground, but neither of these promises had been kept. The remarks weighed with the council in refusing the union's application and granting the use of the ground to a local club.
