(two parcelß); WestportStockton. se. Id. (four parcels). The following sales were reported:— l Talisman Consolidated. £1 55., £1 ss. 3d., £1 se. 6d.; "Westport Coal, £1 13e. 3d.; WestportStockton, ss. Id.; Waihi Grand Junction, £1 4s. 9d.; Auckland Trams (ordinary), £1 Is. 9d. . WAIHI, BEEPB GIGANTIC. The mine manager reports on operations at the mine as follows:—Limited progress only ha.B been made in driving croeccuts in 10C0 feet level, owing to boiler-cleaning having delayed the underground work for several shifts, and strong nature of country being penetrated. In the north crosscut th© progress is 13 feet, and in southcast 10 feet, total 23 feet. We have now penetrated the north from shaft 287 feet, and B.E. 201 feet, both faces fhowing stronger country, the north especially. I look open the change as favourable, a 6 tho lode system may be found bordering on this dark solid country, which is streaked with small friable veins of quartz and mineral, and strong to blast. Tho Ladies' Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. held a "social afternoon" in the Assembly Hall of the association buildings yesterday for the benefit of their funds. There were stalls for sweets, flowers, and oddments, the following being in charge Flowers, Mrs. Low (president of the auxiliary), Mrs. Rest; sweets, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Montague; oddments. Mrs. Varney, Miss Smith, and Miss Rine. Afternoon tea was in the hands of Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Waterhouse, assisted by Miss Varney. Miss Bennett, and others. An _ enjoyable musical programme was provided, and was contributed to by Madame Muller, Miss Mueller, Mrs. Grant, and Mr. Culvorwcll. Miss Varney played tho accompaniments.
