CAPTURED BY A PIRATE SUBMARINE
STEAMER PASSENGER'S STORY

London, March 22. A passenger, who was on board the Batavier when the vessel was captured by a German submarine, says: "I was awakened on Thursday morning, and told that a submarine had captured the ship. German officers boarded her, and took us to Zeebrugge. We were all confined to otir cabins, and brought to the inner harbour, where we were kept imprisoned for two days, and not al!owed_ to go on deck. "/We were then transhipped to a train for Client, officers guarding tlio windows, which were closed. Sixteen members of the crew of the Laanstroom have arrived at Amsterdam. They state that the Germans hoisted their war flag on two Dutch steamers.—("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) STEAMER TORPEDOED IX THE CHANNEL. (Rec, March 23, 9 p.m.) London, March 23. The steamer Concord has been torpedoed in tlio Channel, but is still afloat. Her crow have landed at Dover. The Danish steamer Bryssel, which had been seized by the Germans after her examination and release by the British, has been released. The Germans seized her cargo of oil.
