THE HIGHLAND SOCIETY
The various concerts and social gatherings organised by the Highland Society of Wellington since its inception a year ago have been remarkably successful. The society's effort of some past on belialf of the Mayor's Patriotic Fund will not be soon forgotten by Wellington concert-goers, and the announcement that the society is making arrangements for a monster entertainment in aid of the Belgian Fund, to take place in the Town Hall on Wednesday, April 7, is certain to be heartily -welcomed by, the big section of the public, wbose willingness to further assist a worthy object is nevertheless at times tempered by a desire that the full equivalent of what is levied in coin should be given back in amusement. A genuino Highland concert invariably makes a strong appeal to all classes of the community, und the function now in course of preparation should be no exception to the general rule. The best of Wellington's artists are being eugaged, and the society has .sufficient talent among its juvenile dancers and stalwart pipers to complete a really first-class programme'. Full particulars are to be announced in the course of a day or two.
