NIAGARA DELAYED

LOSES A PROPELLER BLADE. Teleemph—Prese Association.) Auckland, March 22. _ The Niagara arrived at 10 o'clock this morning, several hours late. The delay was due to tho centre, propeller becoming useless on Saturday evening through the shaft sinking a fraction of an inch in a stem bearing. Tho vessel made an average of fifteen knots on the two r<y* maining propeller. On her arrival a diver examined the shaft, but it has not yet been decided whether tho steamer shall be docked. The captain says the Niagara could proceed 1 to Vancouver on two screws, tho disabled screw, which ia driven by a low pressure turbine, being merely auxiliary.

It transpired later that the Niagara l lost a blade off the centro propeller on Mm voyage from Sydney. She will probably be docked here. Her departure for Vancouver has been postponed till Friday,
