GOLF

JOHNSONVILLE CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. ' The annual general meeting of the Johnsonville Golf Club was held at the offices of the Johnsonville Town Board on Friday last. The president,. Mr. W. Wallis, was in the chair, and the meeting was largely attended The annua! report and tie balance-sheet were adopted. In formally moving the adoption of the report, the chairman congratulated the club on the progress made and the healthy state of the finances. At the same time he pointed out that owing to resignations and the fact that six ordinary members had been transferred to the absent list, free of subscription .as being on active military service, it would be necessary, in order for the club, to continue its progress, to see that the loss of' revenue arising from the above causes was repaired. Election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patron, Sir J. G. Ward, Bart, K.C.M.G., P. 0.; president, Mr.' W. Wallis; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. P. H. Bourke, Alex. Morgan, and' A : Mills; committee, Messrs. R. Hirschberg, A. Moore, and A. Hore; captain, Mr. Dunbar Sloane; hon. secretary, Mr. F. C. Buddie; treasurer, Mr. H. Ivatt Graves; auditor, Mr. A. M. Adams.

The secretary moved, "That in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable that the club should be registered under the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908, and that the committee and the secretary be authorised to take the steps necessary to accomplish that end." Mr. Buddie explained the advantages resulting from incorporation, and the. motion was put to the meeting and carried unanimously. A special resolution of which notice had been duly given, "That the existing rules-of the club be repealed, and new rules to be discussed at the meeting be passed," was formally moved by the chairman, _ seconded by the secretary, and carried. The new rules as drafted were then read, discussed, and finally passed, and the secretary was instructed to have them printed and - circulated. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, March 27, 1915, at 2.15 p.m., when the course will be-formally opened for play by the patron. _ Driving, approaching, . and putting competitions will bo Tield. All members of other clubs.are cordially invited to be present and to take part in the competitions. The secretary announced that the captain, Mr. Sloane, has presented trophies for handicap match and medal rounds for ladies and gentlemen, to be played at the links on Easter Monday. Also that the president and Mrs. Wallis were donating trophies for competitions among the lady members during the season. I A vote of thanks to the chair closed the proceedings.,
