She tried to avoid a fight, but after an hour's chase the armed British liner Orama opened fire and the Navarra's upper works were soon ablaze. The fire destroyed all the boats except four, which escaped just before an explosion. The occupants of the boats were made prisoner. The Navarra turned turtle. A sailor on the destroyer which rammed TJI2 says that the prisoners declared that when a previous submarine put into Kiel for repairs her crew was forced on board the TJI2 at the poiut of the revolver.
