LULL IN THE DARDANELLES
ATTACK IMPEDED BY THE WEATHER BOMBARDMENT SEEN FROM THE HILLS : AWE - INSPIRING SCENE ZEPPELIN RAID ON / PARIS CITY PLUNGED IN DARKNESS Bad weather, impeding the reconnaissances of the sea-planes, has checked further advance by the British and French fleets in the Dardanelles. There is a thrilling story of the big duel last week by the "Daily Mail's" correspondent, and also a judicial.analysis of the naval situation, and the lessons to be drawn from the mishaps to the Fleet. The blockade war in British coastal waters continues, and another loss to the British* mercantile marine is chronicled. ■ Neutral ships have been seized by both belligerents and escorted to the respective territorial waters of the oaptors. In Russia, the operations against Tilsit and Meinel (East Prussian border) have assumed an important aspect, and the enemy has been driven across his own frontiers. Fighting in the Carpathians continues, with advantage to the Russians. There is practically no change on the Western front, the . 'Allies being principally engaged at certain points in repelling coun-ter-attacks. ' Paris has been raided by Zeppelins, and some damage, not very terrifying; has been done.
