LARGE ORDER ON THE GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedln, March 22. A crowded protest meeting was held by the Social Democratic Party last night. The meeting passed a resolution denouncing the exploiters of foodstuffs for taking advantage of the present war crisis, ana calling on the Government to immediately assume possession of the wheat, flour, and meat supplies of the country and to ensure by State enterprise that sufficient wheat is grown in New Zealand next season not only for tho people of this country, but also for the purpose of exportation at a minimum price to assist the people of Britain. The meeting further condemned the attempts of defraying the expenditure arising out of tho war by means of street collections, etc., and demanded a graduated war tax on land and incomes.
