NEW ZEALAND'S WAR TAX.
"Worker" considers that a special war tax should be imposed on the farmers in consequence of the increased prices they are receiving for their produce, He adds:—l suggest the Government immediately appoint a committee from both sides of the House to make searching inquiries as to who, are gainers by the war; whether their gains ftre fair and legitimate; of what amount approximately are their individual gams. Inquiries of this nature will also bring to light much matter in,connection with the much-discussed question: "Are the public being exploited by the merchants and retailers? As a matter of fact, I believe they are being robbed in every direction. The committee could also arrange a fair system of taxation to meet war expenditure.
