SUPPOSED SUICIDE. BODY FOUND IN THE BOAT HARBOUR. 'At 10.30 p.m. 'on Saturday a woman's boat and hat were found on the bank of the Boat Harbour (southern side) at Clyde .Quay by two corporation employees. They reported their find to Constable M'Kelvio, of the Clyde Quay station, and By' the time he reached the Boat Harbour the corporation men had located the body of a woman in the water floating face, downwards. Constable Jf'Kelvie secured a boat, and the body, was brought ashore and removed to the. Morgue, near by. The .body was subsequently identi- ' fied as that of Margaret Agnes Clifford, who had been reported as missing thai same evening. The deceased was 43 years of age, and had been recently'residing at 159 Tory Street. It is alleged that- Bhe had' been drinking heavily of late, having been separated from her hus&nd, a freezing works employes, for ' the past twelve, months. ■It is suspeoted from the position' of the discarded clothing ok the hank that /the woman committed suicide. STRUCK BY A TAXI-CAB. A married man, named JM'Lean, a of 67. Ghuznee Street, was admitted to the Hospital on Saturday night,; suffering from injuries to the right ear and head. • While .crossing the road he was struck by a taxi-cab >and knooked down. ■ . Lyons and a trap driven by Mr: Leslie Akehurst occuned on tha Masterton-Oarterton Rojd on Saturiday 'night. The occupants, of the car were badly out about the, face, and Mr. /Akehurst, the driver of the trap, had /his Bboulaer <iislocated, while his horse •was.so badly injured that it had to be destroyed.
