GOLF

KAKORI CLUB'S OPENING. The official opening of the Karori Golf Club's season took place on Saturday afternoon, the ceremony being presided over by Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., for the district. After a speedy appropriate to the occasion, Mr • Wright undertook to drive the first_ ball, and humorously announced his intention of attacking the record. His efforts in this latter direction were without success. There was a large attendance of golfers, the visitors including prominent players from the Miramar, Hutt, and other clubs. Afternoon tea was dispensed, and as the weather was delightfully fine, members and their friends spent a vorv enjoyable day. The competitions resulted as follows:— Ladies' approaching and _ putting: Mi6s Gaynor (Waiwetu). Ladies' driving: Miss Pearson (Karori). Men's driving: W. Macbeth (Karori). Men's approaching and putting: R. Reid (Hutt).
