FOUR REQUESTS
FROM ISLAND BAY AND BERHAMPORE RATEPAYERS. The Reserves and Public Gardens Committee of the City Council reported on Thursday that they had receivod a deputation from the Island Bay and Berhampore Electors' Associations (acting conjointly), who asked:—(l) That Reef Street, island Bay, be planted this year. (2) That the dead trees at Mersey Street be replaced this year. (3) That the Town Belt section opposite the Wakefield Parks be planted with several shelter belts of large trees as the nucleus of a schemefor making the section into a park suitable for women and children. (4) That their association be assured that the proposal for the establishment of municipal golf links be carried out oil the site originally selected on the Town Belt at Berhampore. The committee recommended that the deputationists be informed as follows (1) That tho Reef Street proposal has been referred to the Town Belt forester for report. (2) That instructions have been issued io the superintendent of reserves to give effect to this request. (3) That the superintendent of reserves has been instructed to' report on the proposal to form a women and childreri's reserve on thei Town Belt section. (4) That the Golf Subcommittee, have had "a further meeting since the deputation have waited on ' this. committee, when it was decidod to obtain several oxpert opinions on the suggested ■ sites for the golf links, viz., Berhampore and Kilbirnie Town Bolt. ' ' The recommendations were agreed to.
