BELGIAN MANUFACTURES.
Sir,—Will you kindly inform me in your Answers to Correspondents" column First, if the lace and olothing factories in Brussels are working? Second, it so, who aro they benefiting—the Belgians or Germans P The reason I ,am asking is this: An indent agent was in Wanganui the other day, professing to sell goods that were made in Brussels; and also impressing upon the tradesmen to buy as much as ever they possibly could, in order to keep the factories going in Belgium, and by doing so they would bo helping the Belgians. But as Brussels is at present in the hands of the Germans,'l would like to know how it will benefit, the Belgians.—l am, eto., . [The industrial situation in ; Beigium is obscure, and we cannot say whether any lacs and olothing factories are workH'B- Good 8 exported from tho portion of Belgium under German domination would go through neutral countries, and would be for all intents and purposes German goods. It is possible that stocks of Belgian lace made before the German occupation may have been transported to England. We also understand that i Belgian refugees in Britain have been engaged in the manufacture of lace.—i Editor Dominion,] .
