A special meeting of tie Hutt Park Committee was held at Petone last evening 10 consider a notice of motion tabled by Councillor Brocklebank to the effect that tlie clause respecting tie period of Ihe lease of the park to the Hutt Valley Trotting Club (15 years) be rescinded. Mr. J. W. M'Ewan occupied the chair. The motion was seconded by the ohairman. In the discussion that followed the question of the fence- fronting the grandstand, a portion of which is moveable and portion fixed, appeared in the minds or some of the committee to be likely to interfere with sports. An amendment was moved by Mr. Harcourt and seconded by Mr. Townsend that the matter be held over to allow the borough engineer to draw" a plan showing the position of the sports ground, and also to what extent (if any) the training and trotting tracks would interfere with the football and hockey grounds. After a long discussion the amendment was carried, Messrs. Harcourt, Brocklebank, M'Ewan, and Townsend voting for, and Messrs. Hodgins, Brassell, and Hobbs against. for the art union in aid of the Patriotic Fund, and under patronage of His Excellency the Governor, are now obtainable. The prizes—2o watcr-colours —are on view at Messrs; Kirkcaldie and Stains' art pallory, _A laTge dispersal sale of stock at Pahiatua on. Thursday, March 25, is announced by Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd. The sale is on account of Messrs. D. W. Allen, of Pori, and N. L. Avery, of NRaturi, both well-known breeders, who have sold their properties. Altogether .1300 first-class sheep and 220 head of cattle will bo submitted.
