TREE-PLANTING
CITY ENGINEER'S PROGRAMME. , The City Council decided last, night that the 1 following recommendation of the City Engineer with reference to the tree-planting operations for tho coming year be adopted: — "That as far as possible the opera- - tions for the coming year bo confined to those areas which have been grubbed ■ so as to have them thoroughly freed of . gorse, and that the planting operations' be restricted to filling up the blanks, and also planting the linakori Hills, and also to form a nursery at Town. Belt Sections.7 and B'for-tho prepara-. tion of hardy nativo trees for planting on these two sections." The areas which have been grubbed. areTinakori Hill Sections No. 52, 53, 54, 55, and L., 90 acres, 1 grabbing,' about 15 acres planted; Central Park, portion of Sections No. 38, 40, 41, 42. 43, 44, 46, and 47, about 50 acres, 2 grubbings, about 30 acres planted; Section 48, about 8 acres, 2 grubbings, about 6 acres planted; Section A, about 10 acres, 2 grubbings, about 6 acros • planted; Sections 22 and 23, about 60. acres, 2 grubbings; Section 27 Portion, about 3 acres, 1 grubbing; Sections 7 • and 8, about 58 acres, 3 grubbings. . ■ jr.
