FAREWELL TO REV. P. J. COSSUM

On Tuesday evening a congregational social was held in the Karori Methodist Schoolroom for the purpose of bidding farewell to the Rev. P. J. Cossum and Mrs. CoB6Um, who are leaving - very shortly for Waihi, to which circuit they have been appointed by the Methodist Conference. Mr. J. G. Raine presided, and 'read apologies from the. Rev. G. S. Cook and several church officers, who wore unable to attend. Complimentary addresses concerning the work achieved by the guests of the evening were made by the chairman and Messrs. J. Cable, J. B. Haddon, and H. S. Hart. For three years Mr. Cossum was minister of the did Sydney Street Primitive Methodist Church, and since the amalgamation o fthe churches he has been in charge of the Karori and Northland section of the Thorndin circuit. Musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Miss H. Drj'den, Messrs. Okey, J. Mann, C. 0. Coad, L. G. Clark, and J. Cable. Miss Raine was the accompanist of the evening. Refreshments"; were handed round at a suitable interval. On Sunday morning at the Northland | Methodist' Church a large congregation : gathered for the farewell service of the , Rev. P. J. Cossum. At its close Mr. ( A. Swift, representing the Northland . Church, referred in appreciative terms to the life and work of Mr. Cossum | during his five years' ministry in Wel- | lington, and also spoke of the good work i which had been accomplished by Mrs. . Mr. and Mrs. Cossum God-speed and success in their ! new sphere of labour, presented a hand- ' some token of csteen to the retiring minister, oh behalf of the Northland Church and the ex-members of the .old 1 Sydney Street congrojxatioiu In responding, the Rev.
