At a meeting of the Hospital Board the chairman said that a donation of £13 165.. had-been receivqd, being tlio •procueds' of a street collection made by ' some visiting firemen while in Tiraaru for tho recent competitions., Thoy asked that tho money' bo used for tho relief of a distressed local family. "It was .very gartifying," tho chairman said, "to soo visitors to tho town showing such kindly thoughts for those less fortunato in the community.' Ho thought tho.y were deserving ,of tho board's heartiest appreciation, and also the appreciation of- tho whole community. Ho moved that thoy place on record their appreciation of the firemen's kindly thoughtfulufiss, and that a letter of thanks bo sent thom. This was unanimously agreed to.
