MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. ,At monthly meeting of the Victoria College Council last night, Mr H H. Ostler .presided. There were'also present the Rev. W. A. Evans, the t L r on '. . Herdman, the Hon. A T Maginmty, M.L.C., the Hon. J. G 'w' Aitken, M.L.Cy Dr. Hector, Dr. Prenl dergast Knight,' Messrs; R. M'Callum, B ' K,C -> C - W. Ferguson, C. .Wilson, A. R. Atkinson, and W. H. Morton. A letter was received from the Kclburn Bowling Club asking for permission to erect a turnstile between the clubs property _ and the. University grounds. On the recommendation of the Finance and General Purposes Committee, it was decided that the re-' quest of the club be granted, provided that the turnstile be erected to the satisfaction of the Registrar, that there bo ah annual peppercorn rental, and that the Tight be revocable at the pleasure of the council. Salaries of the Biological Department were considered,. and it was • decided tha:t on the resignation of Miss' Richmond as anatomist, the salary of Miss PigKott as' demonstrator be raised to £100 (from '£75), and that next year the salary of J. Gibson be increased from £39 to £65 per annum, and that it bo further increased by £26 in the following year. • The chairman intimated- that in view of his projected departure for Auckland he would be resigning from the council. He would, however, be present at the next meeting;
