At tho trial of Joseph Earle Hermann on threo counts of forging and uttering promissory notes involving £1.7,391, the accountant wbo examined tho accounts said that he had found that none of tho proceeds of the three bills which wore said to have been forged went into Hermann's private account. All were paid into the business of Earle Hermann, Limited.. During 1913-14 Hermann drew £1649, though entitled to a ( salary of £2000 a year, plus expenses—approximately £5000, instead of £1649. At the time of the smash in August the books showed an undrawn balance of £17,000 to Herman's credit. The case for the defence has closed.
