SUPPLIES COMMANDEERED. London, March 16. In the House of Commons, Mr. U. ■ Baker (Financial Secretary to the War Office), in reply to Mr. W. J. Thorno (Labour member for West Ham), said that between August and December ; Army authorities commandeered 40,190,973 pounds of frozen beef and' 10,497,488 pounds of frozen mutton, and paid current rates. Mr. Thorno suggested that Australian and New Zealand meat not required for the troops should bo sold to tho public at cost price. Mr. Baker said tlint the Government was considering the manner of disposal or siicli meat.
