SIR ALBA WINS THE BIG RACE,
(By Telegraph,—Bpeclal OorrcfijondenU . Napier, March 14. : The Napier PRrk Racing Club's Autumn Meeting was concluded yesterday, in fine weather. The attendance was .satisfactory and the racing interesting! The totalisator investments amounted to .£19.475, making a total of .£33,926 for the meeting, against <£30,985 last year. In the Omahu Hack Hurdle Race Sir Donald was the only scratching. The horses moved off to a good start. King's Guard, the outsider of the field, led into the straight, with Sensitive and Ormoloid together next, and Chatmos last. The position was unchanged passing the stand. At the back of the course Ormoloid pulled up, and the favourite, Caber Davon, moved up from the back to third position, and a greaifc race resulted in the lightweight beating the favourite by two lengths. In. the Telegraph Hack Handicap there were thirteen starteis. Multiplicity was a fairly hot order, with Shaki nejlt in demand. From a fair 6tart Admiral Beatty went to the front. Coming into the straight Powder Fox took the lead. The other horses were well bunched. A great race in the home stretch resulted in Powder Fox. winning by half a length from Shaki, who put in a good run from the distance. ' . AH the acceptors faced the Btaiter in the M'Vay Memorial Handicap. Birkline was quickest off from a good a tart. Rounding the first bend Hyettus took the lead, with Bertrada, the favourite, next, an/1 Sir Alba in the rear. At the back of the course Bertrada moved up to first place, and' Fair -Rosamond also .'improved her position. .Coming into the straight the favourite> fell back; and Hyettus was left"in the lead,, with Fair Rosamond next. Sir Alba, the outsider of ithe field, came through with a great run, and won • by half a length. • In the Kuao Handicap Finisterre gave the starter :a lot of trouble, and after belting-with his rider, was left. Carillon was also left. Hylami. and Loreto ran off before'the straight'was reached. Dribble was in charge at the bottom of the straight, with Spain close up. Sicily .came through at the half-distance, and beat Dribble, who was a red hot order, by a length. : There were five starters in the Highweight Handicap. Sv. Elmn was made the public fancy. Vi went to the front from a good' start, and led to the_ back of the course, when Perceler took charge. Approaching the bend into the straight Vi again went Ito the front, with St. Elmn, Perhaps, and Multikoff handy. The last-named put in a great run and beat the favourite, by half a length, with Perhaps close up third. There was a.field of ten starters, in the Maiden Hack Scurry. The Karamu-owned Centre was best fancied, with Black Heart next in demand. Black Heart jumped out from the start, and led all the way, winning easily by two lengths from the favourite. The quartet, in the St. Patrick's Handicap moved off to a good start. Hymettius was the first to bocome prominent, with Allen Doone next, and Bon Reve last. . On entering tho straight Allen Doone, the favourite, rah through and won by fully, tiro lengths from Hyraettius. The Stewards' Welter Handicap was a good betting • race, Multifual being a rod hot order. Bodenham -went to the front from the start, while Ballyhar was left. Multifual soon overtook Bodenham, and won pulling up by a couple of lengths from the latter. Multifual was disqualified :for Weighing in light,; and Bodenham was'given the race. (W. Bell). Birkline and Hyettus shot out first, but : the former soon dropped back and the favourite and Multiply took up second and third positions. Fair Rosamond moved up to third place at the country bend, and Sir Alba was running easy at tho back of the field. Fair Rosamond headed the leaders at the home bend. Sir Alba came up from the back with a great, run 'down the straight, winning by a length and a half,' the same distance separating 'second and third. At the caretaker's cottage Hylami and Loruto ran right off the courso. Sicily came up from well back and won by two lengths, a length separating second and third. The favourite was a long way behind approaching the home bend, but succeeded in getting within three lengths of the winner. Gold Digger was six lengths away. Lady Ua was fourth and Violet last.
