The .mino superintendent of the Boss Goldfields Reconstructed reports as follows for the week ended March B:—The nnwatering of the shaft, which proceeded steadily during the boisterous weather of last month lunder the full; load had reduced the water in the shaft to 'just below No. 6 platform, when during the storm on February 25 a fall occurred in So. 1 tunnel of the water race. The ' water was then turned on to the auxiliary race, and suffloient power developed, at first, hexdly to hold, and later, as the storm abated and tho surfacewater drained off to gain with the sinking pumps. Inspection of the race tunnel Bhowed that this fall hod occurred in the same section which had given considerable trouble on previous occasions. To. avoid interruption here in the future a deviation is being driven further in. the hill, which will connect those portions of the race twr.nel where tho ground is firmer and is standing well. The average rainfall for March is usually light, and under normal weather conditions there is no reason why the shaft should not be pumped out by the end of the month with the power derived from the auxiliary race, by whioh time the contraot let for the. deviation tunnel of tho main race should be completed. Tho sinking pumps continue to be working satisfactorily, and their capacity has been, considerably, increased by discharging' at tho adit level instead of at the surface:
