ACTION FOR LIBEL
SETTLED OUT OF COURT.

'A libel action in which Mr. Vigor Brown, M.P., claimed £2000 from the "Hawke's Bay Herald" for libel alleged to be contained in a letter published on December 9, headed "Political Hood-. luins," has been settled out of Court, defendants making'a full and ample ; apology and paying £100 and all Mr. Brown's costs. The letter alleged that Mr. Brown organised a band of hoodlums who disturbed the meetings of Mr. Venables, and suggested that it waa associated with tho Red Feds. The apology admits that the letter contain-- - ed reflections on Mr. Brown's personal and political character, and unreservedly withdraws them. Mr. Brown gives the £100 to the Hospital.
