MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL
At last night's meeting of the Miramar Borough Council the Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) presided, and there were also present: Councillors S. M. Stone, H. Hawthorne, M. Tracy, Smith, and Dr, Edith Huntley; The question of the electoral roll was considered, and it was decided to notify (by advertisement in the newspapers) those, who are entitled to be on the roll,' that their names would be added on application to the Town Clerk. It was further decided that the roll, when completed, should be printed. It was reported that there were now about 1500 voters on the roll:
The matter of filling the position of ranger was left in the hands of the council's officers. The borough ranger has now been absent for somo .time, and the council have no information as to his whereabouts.
A letter was received from the. Wellington Fire Underwriters'' Association enclosing a copy of certain clauses, which had been.'drawn' up to govern the storage of dangerous. goods, and suggesting that these clauses should bo adopted in the form of by-laws. The letter was referred to the Public Works Committee of the council: ■
The Empire Oil Company wrote, stating that owing to certain circumstances which had arisen in connection with the British Australian Oil Company's business, that company was prevented from carrying on business, and cftuld not supply further fuel oil to customers in New Zealand. The letter was received. v
Mr. Fredk. Black, consulting engineer, forwarded regulations which he recommended should be _ adopted for controlling the manner of installation of wiring and apparatus in connection with the electric lighting. The regulations were referred to the Public Works Committoe for consideration.
