Y.M.C.A. AND THE TROOPS
Tho following extract from the "British Weekly" bears eloquent. testimony to the work of the Y.M.C.A. in Great Britain:—"No institution in this country has gained so much in public esteem during the course of the war as the Y.M.C.A. Before the war it was generally thought that the Y.M.C.A. .was conducted on a somewhat nanw basis, and that its membership was limited to men of certain religious views. But it is not too much to say that the management of the Y.M.C.A. during tho war has shown the most brilliant qualities of statesmanship. Everywhere _ its work is in evidence. Everywhere it is efficient. Everywhere it commands the highest .praise., It is extending .every day,' and we trust that it will extend much further. Certainly there is no society to which the contribution of the public can be more safely assigned. ' The fine new buildings in Tottenham Court Eoad have been given over to tho service of the fighters, and are doing magnificent work._ It is certain that- when the war is over the Y.M.C.A. will appear to tho public in a manner quite new." • New Zealand is in no respect behind tho Home associations. Both in Egypt, at Trentham, and in the local training camps, tho associations' splendid service is much appreciated. All tho men of the Forces at Trontham have been offered honorary membership in tho local association, offering them full privileges of the use of tho building, rest-room, reading, and writing rooms, eto.
