"GRAVE MISREPRESENTATIONS."
London, March 9. Replying to Mr. Pennefather in the House of Commons concerning the I?amsay Mac Donald pamphlet, Mr. Asquith, "the Prime Minister, said lie. regretted that grave misrepresentations jhad been published at a time when the only possible effect could be to' encourage the enemy. He thought the. importance of the pamphlet had been exaggerated, inasmuch as recruiting had not been affected. . [Recently Mr. Pennefather, in the House of Commons, drew the attention of the Government to a pamphlet, circulated in Germany, entitled "Facts About Germany and the' War; Responsibility of Sir Edward Grey," h y Ramsay Mac Donald, wherein it was asserted that this was a diplomatists' , war made by half a dozen men. The evil had happened because Sir Edward Grey "guided tlie foreign p°hcy, and "his shortsightedness and blunders brought this upon us." Later Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, Labour M.P., described the pamphiot as a distorted version of his. articlo written seven months ago against the lialance-of-power policy.]
